Roger Giles relocated from London to the Fens in the late 1950’s to take up a job with leading strawberry plant producer, W H Cragg. During a later stint as a sheep shearer, he began subcontracting landscaping for large companies. Word quickly got around and over the next few years landscaping became a full time occupation.

Roger’s wife, Sue, lent her considerable technical and design skills and the business went from strength to strength. Soon, commercial contracts grew bigger and the private sector began to flourish but by the end of the 1980’s the recession hit hard. It was only through Roger’s business associations and his strong, reliable team that the company were able to pull through. Now, with over 30 loyal, highly trained employees, Giles Landscapes are firmly established as one of the leading landscaping companies in East Anglia.

Although he spends more time in the office now, Roger still goes onsite to keep a watchful eye on projects. He also remains in close contact with those people who helped to get the business where it is today - past clients, staff and his charismatic first employer, W H Cragg who still drives up from Kent at 90 years old to visit Roger at Bramley House.
