Roger Giles - Managing Director

Roger Giles

Roger was born in London and moved to The Fens in the late 1950's. He obtained a National Certificate in Agriculture (plant based) before starting up as a Landscape Gardener to supplement his earnings as a sheep farmer. That part time job has developed into the Giles Landscapes of today. Roger still goes out to site to check on progress although most of his work is now office based.

In his spare time Roger enjoys playing football with the Giles Landscapes lads and has a keen interest in speed ice skating.  

The Contracts Team 

Gary Evison - Operations Manager

Gary has been working at Giles Landscapes for 15 years starting 
as an operator and moving his way up to supervisor until 2006 
when he became Maintenance Manager.
This year Gary was made Operations Manager and brings to the 
role his vast experience in all areas of landscaping. He has had 
extensive training in all areas of commercial and private landscaping 
gaining many manual qualifications and certification. He has also 
achieved an NVQ Level 3 in Amenity Horticulture.

In his spare time Gary is a keen speed skater and enjoys fishing and golf.

Ros Readman - Technical Manager

Ros joined Giles Landscapes in July 2009 to further strengthen the management team. She draws upon her past experience in estimating, buying, project management and health and safety.

She has previously worked in management with merchants and national housebuilders.

Away from her desk and busy working day, she is involved in a self build project and enjoys messing about on the river.

Emma Baldwin - Estimator

Emma is from an administration background working as an Account 
Supervisor before joining Giles Landscapes in 2005. She has gained 
her estimating experience by working alongside Giles Landscape's 
past Chief Estimator and Contracts Manager and has gained NVQ 
Level 3 in Business and Administration.

Emma enjoys socialising and looking after her cat, Twiglet.

  

The Design Team

Stephen Hall - Principal Designer

Stephen Hall

After training and working as an engineering draughtsman, Stephen retrained as a garden designer at Writtle College during the early 1990's. He joined Giles Landscapes in 2004 and has recently gained a BSC (hons) degree in Landscape and Garden Design at Writtle College. He has exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show four times winning a Bronze and three Silver medals along with a BBC People's Choice Award. In 2008 Stephen and Jane's co designed courtyard garden at Sandringham Flower Show was awarded Gold, Best in Show and The People's Choice Award. This year at his fifth Chelsea Flower Show, Steve was awarded a Gold medal and Best in Courtyard Category for The Giles Landscapes Fenland Alchemist Garden co designed with Jane. 

Steve is into conservation and environmental issues and is a keen long bow archer.

 

Jane Besser - Designer

Jane Besser

Jane trained for three years at Capel Manor College in Enfield gaining a Diploma in Garden and Planting Design and joined Giles landscapes in May 2005. Among designing many private gardens, she has also designed and planted two show stands for Glee and won a certificate of Merit Award for designing and planting a show stand at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2006. In 2008 Jane and Stephen's co designed courtyard garden at Sandringham Flower Show was awarded Gold, Best in Show and The People's Choice Award. This year saw Jane making her Chelsea Flower Show garden debut and was awarded a Gold medal and Best in Courtyard Category for The Giles Landscapes Fenland Alchemist Garden co- designed with Steve.

When not designing gardens, Jane enjoys writing poetry and song lyrics and is interested in ancient history and mythology.

 

The Office Team

 Paula Hainey - Financial Controller

Paula has over 30 years accounting experience including working 
for a greeting card publisher as financial director and as financial 
controller and area manager for a small independent brewer. 
She has also owned and managed her own pub before joining the 
Giles Landscapes team in 2008. Paula's interests include gardening, 
socialising and reading.

 

 

 Emily Bromfield - Accounts/Admin Assistant

Emily joined Giles Landscapes in 2007 as Office Administrator to the contracts team. She now deals with all areas of Administration. She has extensive administration qualifications and has gained NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration.

In her spare time Emily likes to read and socialise.

 

 

 James Ess - In-house Maintainence

James joined Giles Landscapes in 2010 - in his spare time James enjoys restoring 
cars and socialising.
